Simon helps Christel in charity bid to lose half her body weight
By Mary Ferguson
A PR-SAVVY personal trainer is whipping a client into shape for charity – and telling the world about it through newspapers and cyberspace.
Simon Lovell, who runs The Heat Personal Training in Exeter, will be helping Christel Dahlskjaer lose half her body weight in aid of the
NSPCC, and her blood sweat and tears will be chronicled in an online blog and local newspaper.
Christel had trained with Simon before but gave up, so he suggested the blog and fundraising as motivational tools to keep her on track – as well as a way of promoting his business.
He will be appearing in Christel’s online video diaries, and using the ‘project’ as a way of getting his name in the papers.
Simon said: “I may not be the best personal trainer in my area but I get the most business because I am so good at marketing myself.
“Other trainers should look at their clients and if they identify something a bit different – such as massive weight loss or success over adversity – let the media know.”
Simon has an interactive website and online fitness magazine, and regularly submits case studies of his clients to local newspapers.
He is also the resident fitness expert for a number of women’s magazines, and has just signed a book deal to publish his Lunch Box Diet – an eating programme that advocates little and often and balances carbohydrates with physical activity.
Christel will be following this plan, as well as training with Simon three times a week, with the aim of dropping from 23 stones to 11.
He added: “I’m confident Christel will be successful,
and that the publicity it
generates will benefit the
business. Marketing is often overlooked but is so
important.”
