Club is winning with spinning ...
AN independent club in Southampton is getting into a spin about the overwhelming reaction to its new spinning facilities.
Since ripping out the old kit, replacing the floor and installing new bikes, Accolade Health and Fitness have noticed a huge increase in members pedalling their way to fitness – and a boost to business as a result.
Carl Critchlow, director of the club said: “Since the installation the demand from our members has been overwhelming, and our classes are constantly oversubscribed. Even our reserve lists are filling up, and we have a lot of referrals from members who tell their friends about the classes and join the gym because of it.
“Members ask us to put in even more bikes to meet demand but it’s more financially viable for us to add more classes instead.”

Gym weighs in with green plans
PLANS for one of London’s most environmentally friendly gyms has been unveiled by Harrow Council.
If approved, it will have a number of green initiatives including specially designed vents which use natural air flow from the wind to cool the gym, whilst using the hot air from the swimming pool to save 75 per cent on the cost of heating the main building.
Director of community and cultural services Javed Khan said: “This new gym will reduce the leisure centre's carbon footprint by 20 per cent and once built should be one of the greenest gyms around. By using state of the art technology we hope to save on our heating, electricity and water bill."
