PORTSMOUTH University have opened a new high tech sports centre that will be used to prepare elite athletes for the next two Olympic Games.
The multimillion pound research and teaching facility, The Spinnaker Building, will house several world class laboratories including hot and cold climatic chamber, an immersion facility and a biomechanics laboratory.
The facility has secured work with UK Sport to run scientific tests and prepare athletes from the GB Cycling and UK Triathlon teams for the Beijing Olympics and London 2012.
Sports scientists at the university will also being doing work across a range of sectors, including the oil and energy industry and the military.
