AN Eastbourne gym has been helping a 90 year old member prepare for a once in a lifetime challenge.
Daphne Bernard, who is a member at David Lloyd Leisure, is celebrating the Queen's Diamond Jubilee by taking part in a charity skydive.
She is planning to plunge 12,000ft out of an aeroplane to raise funds for the Alzheimer's Society in memory of her late husband.
To prepare for the challenge, Daphne, who has been a member of the club for 30 years and trains there three times a week, has been training with lead coach Josh Warrell.
She said: "When I told the club I am planning the sky dive, they got behind me with fundraising and arranged a PT session to prepare for the jump. Trainer Josh made up a special routine of leg and chest presses, bicep curls and leg extensions that I have practised several times before the big day."
Daphne's tandem skydive is scheduled for Monday June 4 at Headcorn Aerodrome in Ashford
