KIRKLEES Active Leisure – the charitable trust which manages 11 sports centres and swimming pools for Kirklees Council – is hosting its own 2012 Games.
The trust is running 11 of the 26 sports featured in the London 2012 Olympics and will be putting on various events involving football, dodgeball, mountain biking and athletics throughout this month and next.
KAL recently hosted the Scissett Triathlon organised by West Yorkshire Police Triathlon Section. It attracted over 180 competitors who all swam 400m in the pool at Scissett Baths and Fitness Centre, cycled 16k and ran 4.5km.
Both male and female course records were broken and every competitor was awarded a T-shirt and medal. Elliot Smales crossed the finish line first in a time of 48:02.60 and fastest female was Emma Wolff from Wakefield Triathlon Club who finished in 54:36.75.
