FIT For Sport have joined the ukactive Vanguard Group and will be working in partnership with the organisation to make a change to current levels of child activity.
Through the partnership, ukactive will work to improve the sector’s work with children, encouraging a forward thinking approach that will help operators to engage with young people to improve their health through physical activity.
ukactive CEO David Stalker said: “Through Vanguard, Fit For Sport will be in a position to talk to leading operators about how to get children fit. By working at the grassroots level, Fit For Sport have already started to bridge the gap between what physical education children ought to receive, and what they actually do, a matter very recently highlighted by an Ofsted Report on the quality of PE in schools.
“As issues related to obesity move further up the agenda, with recent calls from doctors to address the UK’s current status as one of the most unhealthy nations in Europe, the importance of getting children involved in physical activity from a young age cannot be overlooked. By working with Fit For Sport, we aim to get schools, children and families engaged with what it takes to develop and sustain a healthy lifestyle.”
