HUNDREDS of local families descended on Withdean Sports Complex to celebrate the opening of its brand new athletics track.
The Freedom Leisure operated centre laid on a jam-packed afternoon of free track races and field activities including a toddler and parent race and 400m races.
Olympic 400m hurdles champion Sally Gunnell was in attendance and officially opened the track alongside Mayor Denise Cobb, Brighton and Hove City Councillors and Jon Horne of Sport England.
The athletics track has been updated as part of a larger £2.6m redevelopment and extension programme at Withdean Sports Complex.
