SHEFFIELD based cardiac rehabilitation instructor Jo Strong has been recognised as a ‘woman with heart’ for her contribution to helping UK heart patients.
The British Heart Foundation is profiling the work of 10 women who are making a difference to heart patients’ lives in the run-up to International Women’s Day on March 8.
Now the BHF is encouraging the people of Sheffield to vote for Jo to help determine the nation’s favourite Woman With Heart at bhf.org.uk/womenwithheart. Voting closes on March 3.
Jo, works for Sheffield International Venues at Graves Tennis and Leisure Centre and Springs Leisure Centre.
Her cardiac rehabilitation classes help patients recover from a heart attack or heart surgery. They show patients how to exercise safely and offer information and advice to people on other lifestyle factors that can protect your heart health, such as healthy eating and quitting smoking.
She started at Graves in 2009 with just one class of patients and now runs five classes across Graves and Springs.
Jo said: “I’m honoured to have been recognised by the BHF in this way and to be in the company of so many other inspiring women.”
