FOLLOWING the success of its 2013 Legacy Games Days for junior school children, Everyone Active is hosting its first event of 2014 on Thursday May 15th at Basildon Sporting Village with VIP guest of honour double Olympic gold medal winner Rebecca Adlington, OBE. This is the first event since the Legacy Games Day initiative was awarded the coveted Inspired by 2012 Mark from the Cabinet Office. It will be an excellent showcase of how communities, schools and corporate partners unite to create a true legacy.
The event will include inspirational talks from Rebecca Adlington and Olympic swimmer and TV presenter Steve Parry, a VIP reception, networking lunch and a tour of the facilities to see the children's event in action.
The Legacy Games Day is a joint initiative between Fit for Sport and Everyone Active which aims to deliver a legacy of sport, competition and community engagement to children aged 7-11.
It has attracted praise from Sebastian Coe CH, KBE, the Prime Minister's Olympic and Paralympic Ambassador, who said: 'I am delighted to support Fit for Sport and Everyone Active for their 'Legacy Games'. I hope that this programme, which has been awarded the 'inspired by 2012' legacy brand, continues to grow and support communities, schools and families to become more active. It is a showcase of the lasting Olympic and Paralympic Legacy and one that I hope will encourage others to join in and move more.'
