Heart attack survivor Ken in the swing of exercise

A 71-year from Sheffield is rallying support for a city tennis centre which helped his recovery following a heart attack.
Ken Shaw was referred to Graves Tennis and Leisure Centre in October 2008 after suffering a heart attack which left him with limited movement and motivation.
Ken took part in 12 weeks of low-impact exercise sessions at Graves with Cardiac Rehabilitation Phase IV Instructor, Julie James.
He now plays recreational tennis sessions on Tuesday mornings – despite only ever playing the sport at school more than five decades ago.
Graves is run by SIV – part of the local charity Sheffield City Trust (SCT), which provides facilities for sport and leisure activities for the benefit of Sheffield people.
Tennis manager Mark Hamilton said: “I’m immensely proud of the work that the team including Stuart Palmer, carries out at the centre – from rehabilitation classes through to the tennis programmes.
“We’re over the moon that Ken’s well on the way to recovery and I’m pleased that Graves has played a key part in this.”
