BRITISH Cycling and Sky have marked a successful year in partnership with Barnsley Council, which saw increased levels of participation in cycling from local people.
After a year which saw the Tour de France come through the town, the council’s programmes saw hundreds of people get out on their bikes and take up the sport.
To recognise the success of the partnership, British Cycling recreation manager Steve Peters presented a framed GB Cycling Team jersey to Barnsley Council.
Steve said: “It’s a great time to be inspired by cycling and we’ve really enjoyed working with Barnsley to get more people on bikes than ever before.
“The first Sky Ride Locals saw lots of people take to their bikes and we’re looking to build on that this year.”
