A host of Olympic swimmers including Steve Parry and Mark Foster will be making a splash on June 19 and 20 to celebrate the opening of the new swimming pool at Radcliffe Leisure Centre.
The two day event, which sees the launch of the UK’s first 25m demountable above-ground swimming pool, is the result of a collaboration between Total Swimming and Bury Council and represents a £945K investment in the town’s leisure facilities.
On Friday June 19, around 100 pupils from St Mary’s R.C. Primary School, Gorsefield Primary School, Wesley Methodist Primary School and Chapelfield Primary School will be taking the plunge in the new pool and joining in an action-packed morning of aquatic activities including mini water polo, synchronised swimming and the chance to race an Olympian including members of the London 2012 Waterpolo and Syncho teams.
A community day will follow on Saturday June 20, when local residents will be invited to see the new swimming pool and take part in activities at the centre for just £1.00.
