UKACTIVE is partnering with NHS Blood and Transplant to support their #BleedForEngland campaign to increase the number of people signing up as new blood donors.
Between England’s first warm up game and the end of the world’s biggest rugby tournament, NHS Blood and Transplant is looking for 100,000 people to register as new blood donors. New donors are needed to replace those that can no longer donate and to ensure there is the right mix of donors to meet patient needs in future.
A number of ukactive operators have already joined forces on this campaign, in a bid to get their members to #BleedForEngland.
Those taking part include Fitness First, Anytime Fitness, English Federation of Disability Sport and CIMSPA.
Assistant director at NHS Blood and Transplant Jon Latham said: “It’s great to have the support of partners like ukactive for this campaign. Giving blood is an amazing thing to do. Help us meet the need for new donors. Please go to www.blood.co.uk today, find out if you can donate, register as a donor and book an appointment. Giving blood is simple and easy to do and will only take about an hour of your time. We plan our sessions in line with the amount of blood we need to collect to meet hospital and patient needs so it’s best to book an appointment.”
