AN innovative Burnley Leisure fitness programme has helped a group of local women shape up in time for the party season.
In just 10 weeks, the six women have lost more than 35 pounds in total and have seen 55 inches disappearing from their waist, hips and thighs.
The ‘Drop it like it’s hot’ programme has seen the women change their eating habits; learning to count calories, understand food labels, and judge when the feeling of being hungry is really because they are thirsty or bored.
On top of that, they have had access to over 80 exercise classes at Burnley Leisure over the course of the programme – most have gone along three or four times a week and enjoyed kettlebells, circuits, Spinning and boot camp.
Health and fitness manager Elaine Adams-Gilligan said: “The programme has been a tremendous success and has proved popular with women.
“It is devised to help participants, both men and women, to kick-start their fitness goals, regain body confidence, and learn to lead a healthy lifestyle.”
