FITNESS reward app Bounts has teamed up with partners including the National Trust, Forestry Commission and Canal and River Trust to gain valuable data on the usage of outdoor sites.
An initial pilot has been launched and the app will track activity via geo fences and Bluetooth beacons placed at each venue. The findings hope to shed a light on where people are spending the majority of their time, as well as the most popular activities at each location.
The projects, funded by Sport England, will run over the course of 2016 and involve a range of open spaces including Osterley Park and House and Delamere Forest.
Founder of bounts John Stuart said: “This is the first time we’ve been involved in research that focuses on such wide open spaces and we’re really excited about the potential these projects have.
“We’re privileged to be collaborating with all organisations involved and love that we can offer our members even more ways to collect points and receive rewards for getting up and about.”
