A LEISURE centre in Weston-super-Mare has undergone a £2.15m transformation, which includes a two-storey extension featuring a state-of-the-art gym complete with new equipment.
The six month expansion project at Hutton Moor Leisure Centre was funded and managed by North Somerset Council and Parkwood Leisure.
Facilities now include a 155-station gym featuring a large range of Precor cardiovascular equipment, a selection of strength equipment and two group fitness studios offering both virtual and instructor-led classes.
A squash court has been refurbished and transformed into an indoor cycling studio, while the area previously used as a bar for the squash court, turned into a Sway dance studio, offering a range of dance classes.
A dedicated studio showcasing a large Queenax functional training unit has been built, and, as well as suspended body weight training, the studio will host 20 specialist small group classes such as HIIT, boxing and Anti-Gravity yoga.
General manager Dave Somers said: “All the new equipment has been very well received by both customers and staff with encouraging comments on the range and diversity of the offering.
“This expansion will allow us to grow with the local community and continue to meet fitness trends, offering a wide range of top-class specialist equipment to keep everyone motivated and active.”
