Leisure centre hosts community health event

A COMMUNITY focused leisure centre has held an event to raise awareness of the local health services available to older people.
About 60 guests, including local mayor Helen Richards, attended the event at Retford Leisure Centre, hosted by centre operator BPL and award winning home care provider Home Instead.
The day included a talk on dementia awareness and the chance to learn more about the benefits of fitness for older adults; including information on the leisure centre’s successful chair based exercise and ‘senior circuits’ sessions.
Customer service advisor at Retford Leisure Centre Nicola Boswell said: “We offer so many different classes – from age four months up to 100 plus years – and events like this help us to get the word out there about what we do.
“Some of the clientele who attended on the day wouldn’t normally come into the centre, so holding the event in our dance studio was a really good opportunity to get them into that environment.”
