New course to help dog owners and their pets keep fit

DOGFIT has launched a new course to help dog owners get fit by running with their pets.
The specialist products and training provider has developed an online Couch to 5K canicross course, especially designed for beginners, which takes owners and their dogs through a fun and structured programme intended to get them off the couch to jogging or running 5k in just eight weeks.
As well as a weekly running schedule, participants will receive expert guidance on how to use the canicross (the sport of off-road running with your dog) equipment properly and advice on working effectively with their dogs to get the best results.
Co-founder of DogFit Ginetta George said: "Weight loss and general fitness is on many people’s list of New Year resolutions but it’s not always easy to fit in a trip to the gym with other day-to-day commitments, such as walking the dog!
“Many people also struggle to get motivated to exercise in the first place. So, with our new Couch to 5K canicross course, you can kill two birds with one stone whilst also building a special bond with your dog.
“This course is designed specially to encourage owners and their dogs to enjoy a way to get fitter together for the long term.”
