PARKWOOD Leisure is strengthening its green credentials by reducing the use of plastics in its Cafe Vita business, which operates in 32 sites.
Café Vita will now cease to purchase any new plastic items such as straws, plastic cutlery and plastic cups; resulting in an annual saving of 200kg of single use plastics.
Instead, alternatives have been sourced in more environmentally friendly materials, including paper straws and wooden cutlery.
Café Vita has also decided to re-examine its environmental credentials relating to the use of takeaway coffee cups.
All purchases of new stock will now switch to 100 per cent compostable coffee cups and lids. This equates to a reduction of over 2m cups and lids a year across the Parkwood Leisure business going to landfill.
Café Vita will also introduce a reusable coffee cup, offering customers a discount each time they use it.
